Former Manchester United defender Wes Brown has been giving his opinion about his former club recently and gave his assessment of the club’s current stars. The Red Devils have suffered a Premier League title drought in eight years and have continued to be in the hunt for another league crown since the last time when they won it in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last campaign in charge back in 2013.
In 2013 when they won the league title, former Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie, who was signed from the Gunners by Sir Alex, scored 20 goals in the Premier League alone, but they have not been able to find such a striker since his exit under Louis van Gaal.
And Wes Brown, a former Red Devil, has said that as long as United continue to struggle to find a deadly striker and proven goalscorer, they may continue to fall behind in the Premier League title race. The former defender also gave a damning criticism of striker Anthony Martial, saying that the French forward is not the type of striker United need to challenge for title glory.
Brown said Martial may be a decent forward, but he does not have the complete qualities that a striker should have, and it could affect United’s hopes to return to the apex of English Football.
