Premier League side Sunderland are eagerly seeking top strikers or forwards that can score goals and remedy their status this season. The former top flight side relegated to the Sky Bet Championship but they have continued to struggle after losing their best legs to other sides. Sunderland now sit at the bottom of the Championship log and look set to decline to the League One.
Lewis Grabban has returned to Bournemouth so Sunderland badly needs a striker in the winter window. Grabban scored 12 goals in the first half of the season while the rest of the team combined scored 19 goals. He takes his attacking prowess back to the top flight leaving the Black Cats desperate for a replacement. Manchester United’s James Wilson is one name touted to replace Grabban. He has not been able to break into the senior team at Old Trafford and recent loan spells have been at Brighton and Derby but he has struggled due to injuries. He is fit again and is scoring the second team so he could be the lifeline for Sunderland.
Lukas Nmecha of Manchester City is also red hot in form for the Under-23. The youngster attracted interest from Everton but Etihad wants to tie him down long term before sending him out on a loan deal. He is confident and good enough to start games at the Stadium of Light. Then there’s also Chuba Akpom of Arsenal. The 22-year old wants more game time and might be willing to get it at Sunderland. Arsene Wenger would likely grant a second halfof the season loan especially as Arsenal stumble out of the FA Cup, with the senior boys playing the league and EFL Cup semis.
